Thesis Title:
Mechanisms of action of neuroprotective phenylalkylhydrazines.

Research Interests:
My research focuses on the antidepressant drug phenelzine and its metabolite phenylethylidenehydrazine (PEH). Previous findings suggest that both agents can be useful in treating a variety of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease. The purpose of my project is to determine the mechanisms responsible for the neuroprotective actions of phenelzine and PEH, and to determine the amount of PEH that is formed in the body from phenelzine.
