Current Degree in progress: PhD
Thesis Title: Understanding stimulant-induced psychosis by co-registration of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy and cognitive changes.
Research Interests: My thesis work involves clinical and biological investigation of co-morbid stimulant dependence and psychosis. This group of dual diagnosis patients is notoriously difficult to treat and outcomes of these patients are not optimal. Therefore, my PhD project objectives are to (1) investigate potential contributing factors to the development of persistent psychosis in stimulant uses (2) investigate neurochemical and cognitive profiles in abstinent stimulant using samples (with and without persistent psychosis), as compared to healthy controls and first episode psychosis patients and (3) investigate the relationships between symptom presentation, cognitive dysfunction and neurochemical profiles within each group.
My interests lie in addictions, schizophrenia and forensic psychology.
