Though not a mandated Royal College requirement, we strongly encourage residents to take advantage of the excellence in breadth and depth of research that occurs at the University of Alberta and affiliated sites. It is possible to complete an MSc in Psychiatry while a resident, which a number of residents have successfully done. This is facilitated by our seminar series, with it counted as course work towards the MSc Program. In addition, if a resident is presenting their research at a conference, the department will fund their attendance.
