Each resident is expected to attend weekly grand rounds and to present one grand rounds per year on a topic of their choice. Residents also participate in a monthly resident journal club. Mock Royal College oral exams occur yearly, and practice OSCEs are held twice a year.
The program officially examines residents beginning in the latter part of PGY-4. These exams are in the Royal College oral exam format and the resident is required to pass 2 of 6 trials as required by the Royal College (standard across Canada). If these exams are not successfully completed, then the resident would be asked to do more training before they are able to do their formal written and PDM exams.
